The fruit driven 2015 Jamet, Cotes du Rhone

The 2015 Domaine Jamet, Cotes du Rhone is, at half the cost of the Cote-Rotie, an introduction to the wines of the Northern Rhone.  This Cotes du Rhone is made from young Syrah vines located on several plots located within and just without Cote Rotie.  It is in need of a wee bit of age but remains approachable, offering a fruit driven expression rather than floral or meaty.  You will find this wine at MacArthur Beverages.

2015 Domaine Jamet, Cotes du Rhone – $45
Imported by MacArthur Liquors.  This wine is 100% Syrah raised for 10-11 months in used oak casks.  Alcohol 13%.  Reduced at first, it eventually reveals finely scented aromas of ripe, blue fruit.  There is weighty fruit to start in the mouth, not heavy, rather expansive and textured.  There is watering almost juicy acidity to propel the clean fruit through the finish.  The wine remains textured with an aftertaste which reminds you that this is a beautiful wine.  *** Now – 2028.
