1983 Offley Boa Vista

After enjoying a particularly fresh bottle of 1966 Offley Boa Vista, Vintage Port I decided to follow up with the 1983 Offley Boa Vista, Vintage Port.  Drunk over an entire week this bottle bore similar marshmallow flavors.  While it did not have the balance or youthfulness of the 1966 vintage, the aromas of leather and campfire followed by notes of tobacco in the mouth made for a solid, mature Port experience.  Given the maturity and price I would not hesitate to drink this Port! This bottle was purchased from Chambers Street Wines.

1983 Offley Boa Vista, Vintage Port
Imported by Renfield Importers.  Alcohol 20%.  The nose bore earthy hints then a combination of dusty black licorice and leather.  With extended air there were aromas of campfire.  In the mouth were round, familiar marshmallow flavors.  The softer start made way to tobacco in the middle, fruit cocktail flavors, and candied cherry.  This bottle was a little spirituous with a fair amount of residual sugar in the aftertaste which tasted of marshmallows and graham crackers.  *** Now but will last.
