Wine and Basel Wear (1634)

The image featured in today’s post came to my attention through the Basel Wear post on the fascinating blog BiblioOdyssey.  Hans Heinrich Glaser’s Basler Kleidung (1634) exhibits people wearing contemporary clothing  in scenes of daily life.  The scene involving wine is a bit humorous.  The caption translates to, “A good woman beats the wine out of her drunken husband’s head”.
