Pictures from Carl Schmitt-Wagner
One of the wines we opened during our Memorial Day Weekend BBQ was the 2002 Carl Schmitt-Wagner, Longuicher Maximiner Herrenberg Riesling Kabinett, Mosel-Saar-Ruwer. Herr Schmitt-Wagner was kind enough to post a comment and at my request, to send along a few additional images.
The estate has been producing wine since 1804. The wines are traditionally made and large number of the vines are 105 years old.
The 3.7 hectares of vineyards are located on Blue Devonian slate and weather slate.
The wines are crushed in a wooden press built in 1911.
His wines are imported by Michael Skurnik Wines and are locally available at MacArthur’s.

We drank a bunch of older wines at the Domaine…I believe the oldest was a 1959 Kabinett that was fantastic! Great producer that deserves more attention.
Phil, It is wonderful and amazing to read that a 1959 Kabinett drinks so well. Any pictures of the bottle?
